2009 Awards Ceremony Venue

The Green Awards 2009 ceremony took place on Wednesday 18 November at LSO St Luke’s, a once-derelict Hawksmoor church on Old Street, EC1, restored to become the home of the London Symphony Orchestra’s pioneering education and community programme, LSO Discovery.

LSO St Luke's is an impressive and stylish Grade 1 listed venue with flexible contemporary spaces available to hire for arts, corporate and private events. Alongside regular orchestral rehearsals and a busy commercial programme, the venue presents a diverse selection of concerts, hosting artists and groups across the spectrum – from the Asian Music Circuit, London Sinfonietta and Aled Jones to Elton John, Annie Lennox and Bruce Springsteen!

With sustainability at the heart of many business decisions, LSO St Luke’s published an environmental policy that forms part of the Orchestra’s commitment to ensure business practices are ethically, socially and environmentally aware, reduce waste and emissions, and encourage these aspirations among staff, suppliers, patrons, clients and partners. Furthermore, external event income directly supports our education and outreach work with local communities in Islington, Hackney and beyond, and secures LSO St Luke’s place in the cultural life of future generations.
